Plant Design Trends!

American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) are the masters of connecting plant and floral design with interior design. For 2016, TPIE will focus on four leading interior design trends: modern, repurposed/reclaimed, mid-century modern (1950-60's) and children's spaces. Each presentation by guest designers will provide ideas and inspiration to connect foliage and floral designs and applications to these four interior design trends.

11 a.m. –Sleek and Modern Plant Designs for Sleek and Modern Interiors
Clean and streamlined lines, minimal fuss and singular colors work well in plant designs as well as building and home designs. Look for lots of glass, metal and green as designers show off their modern plant design ideas.

2 p.m. – Repurposed Plant Designs for the Reclaimed Interior
Floral designers have been pioneers in using abandoned materials for containers, recycling branches, seedpods and stones from nature and making do with whatever's at hand to create beautiful designs to enhance beautiful, and often now, reclaimed spaces. This session will provide several “ah ha's” in reusing and repurposing with plants
.

4 p.m. – Wine and Design Workshop: Make Your Own Plant-Styled Hair Piece
Enjoy a glass of wine while creating your own hair accessory, using supplied plants, ribbon, bling, clips and other accents. AIFD designers will be on hand to provide tips and technique for what is the hottest trend in fashion wear right now. Your foliage hair piece will be the perfect accessory to wear to the TPIE Happy Hour at the close the show. Cost is $30 if registered by January 8 and seating is limited. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged.

10 a.m. – Like Child's Play: Plant Designs for Kids' Spaces
Children’'s spaces, whether bedrooms, classrooms or playrooms are done with much creativity and style these days. Stimulating surroundings stimulate creative, emotional and intellectual development in children and plants and nature are an important element. Borrow from designer ideas as they show how to mix color, texture, form and fun to connect with this important younger generation - the next generation.

1 p.m. –1950's/60's Retro Plant Designs Add Hip to Mid-Century Modern Interiors
Taking off as the hottest interior style right now, the Mid-Century Modern look celebrates eclectic, yet minimal designs with stylized forms and a bit of the abstract thrown in. See how AIFD designers transfer these style characteristics using plants, containers, color and structure. Even a Mad Man will want to add these plant creations to his advertising office or home.
