FNGLA Certified Landscape Technician (FCLMT)
What is it?
FNGLA’s Certified Landscape Maintenance Technician (FCLMT) program is designed to measure the skills of practicing landscape maintenance technicians. This program serves as a means to train employees, recognize their achievement and raise the standards of working professionals within Florida’s landscape industry.
FCLMT is offered as a stand-alone certification and marketed to the landscape industry as an employee training, recognition and advancement program. This certification relies heavily on the green industries best management practices.
FCLMT certification is valid for a three-year period. During that time, an FCLMT is required to earn 15 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) in order to renew.
FCLMT is designed for employees of landscape maintenance firms, as well as state, county & municipal governments, parks & recreation departments and land & home developers.
Those qualified to sit for the FCMLT exam must have a minimum of 1 year experience in Florida's horticulture/landscape industry. Applicants must hold a valid driver's license and the applicable pesticide license.
Applicants for the FCLMT exam can take advantage of a variety of hands-on training options around the state. Training can also be offered in-house with a review conducted by the FNGLA member company hosting the exam. Employers conducting in-house training for their staff are encouraged to utilize the BMP Manual from the Department of Environmental Protection.
The FNGLA Landscape Maintenance Certification Manual is a useful study guide for the FCLMT exam. It will be available in late 2008 and will provide information on the specifications and procedures used in completing the field exams for the FCLMT exam.
FCLMT testing is offered at various test sites throughout Florida.
Candidates must pass a comprehensive 10-part field and written exam to earn the FCLMT designation.
