We would like to express our gratitude to C&C
Peat for hosting the April meeting of the FNGLA
Coastal Springs Chapter at their brand new facility
in Okahumpka. Most of the attendees participated
in a tour of their state of the art composting and
soil mixing operations. An excellent barbeque
meal was enjoyed by all. Dennis Mahr from Ted
Mahr Supply enlightened all of us on the various
factors that can affect the quality of irrigation
water and the several steps that can be taken to
correct these issues in your nursery.

The Next FNGLA Coastal Springs Chapter Meeting to Take Place at JG Ranch in Brooksville.

The next chapter meeting is scheduled for May 20,
2008 @ 6:00 PM at the JG Ranch in Brooksville for
a Barbeque under the oaks and the extra special
opportunity to pick Fresh Florida Blueberries,
sweet corn and other produce that is available. JG
ranch is one of the major blueberry producers in
the growing west central Florida blueberry
production region. After the commercial shipping
season ends in early May, the opening of the
Casey's’ field to u-pick is a much anticipated event
in the Brooksville area. Calls have already been
flooding in for weeks inquiring when the field will
be open. The Casey's have added Florida Fresh
Sweet Corn and other vegetables to their produce
offerings this year. Please plan to attend our last
chapter meeting of the season.
