

Welcome to FNATS Friday Features. This is a second edition in a series of four emails that you will receive over the next month to highlight the FNATS Short Course sessions. The FNATS Short Course offers the most comprehensive educational program for the green industry. With Florida’s $15.2 billion nursery and landscape industry taking a leading economic role in the state, the FNATS Short Course has interwoven the important theme of “Leadership” during this year’s program.
The program is divided up into general sessions, four concurrent breakout sessions, and two luncheons. This edition will highlight the general session & Friday’s luncheon and allow you to get to know the speakers of the sessions.
Thursday’s General Session

Dr. Hannah Carter has used these concepts to teach her classes on Organizational Leadership and Leadership Development at the University of Florida.
MEET DR. HANNAH CARTER
Dr. Hannah Carter grew up in northern Maine. She graduated from the University of Maine at Presque Isle in 1995 with a B.S. degree in Biology. Upon graduation, she began her career with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension (UMCE) developing educational programming for Maine’s potato industry. In 1999, she graduated with her M.S. in agricultural education and communication from the University of Florida and in 2004 she earned her Ph.D. from UF in agricultural leadership. Dr. Carter joined the faculty of the Department of Agricultural Education and Communication after graduation. With this appointment, she is the Director of the Wedgworth Leadership Institute for Agriculture and Natural Resources, a leadership development program for individuals involved in Florida’s agriculture and natural resource industries. She is also an assistant professor, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses on leadership development.

MEET HAROLD LLOYD
Harold was the President and C.E.O. of a 14-Unit retail organization for 10 years. The company consisted of 10 convenience stores with gasoline, two combo supermarket/discount stores, one conventional supermarket, and one deep discount health and beauty aid supermarket. His team of 1,000 associates were market leaders. They were innovative and dedicated to superior customer relations. Harold is also the author of It's About Time: A Time Management Tool Chest for Retailers.
