
Breeders and growers have no easy task when it comes to developing plants suitable for Florida's climate. Encompassing USDA hardiness zones 8A - 11 is only part of the story when you factor in Florida's extreme humidity, the extremes of summer and, of course, the un-anticipatable. Selecting the right plant for the right place in a Florida garden can be a challenge.
The main purpose of the trial is to provide breeders with a means for growing and evaluating their latest cultivars as they develop the next generation of plants. Starting in 2011, a unique and inspiriting change to FNGLA's Floriculture Field Days started: a partnership between FNGLA and the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival and the opportunity to bring awareness of new plant development to the end consumer.
