Trial Gardens at Disney’s Horticulture Nursery

A round-robin format will take attendees on a tour through the trial gardens featured backstage at the Walt Disney World’s nursery. Along with the first glimpse of the performance trials, members of Disney’s horticulture team will share great insight on what they have learned while providing over-the-top displays for their park guests. It is sure to be the first of many magical moments shared while at FNGLA’s Floriculture Field Days.

Station One: How Disney’s Horticulture Keeps the Magic in the Festival
Not by chance, but instead through lots of planning, Walt Disney World continues to delight its park guests with the annual International Flower and Garden Festival. Eric Darden will piece together what Disney’s Horticulture has learned from past Epcot® International Flower & Garden shows and how they keep the festival budding with fresh new experiences for every age and interest each year. Come hear about the latest hot buttons that are driving consumer trends.

Station Two: A Walk Through the Trials
For six weeks prior to Floriculture Field Days, Melissa Shepherd has watched each new variety grow. This is an opportunity for attendees to get the first glimpse of new varieties featured in the trials while Melissa shares what she sees are new and successful varieties for both FNGLA’s trials and the All America Selections (AAS).

Station Three: Setting the Stage
From scheduling, to selection, to the final installation, Heather Will-Browne will share the step-by-step process to successfully build color into your landscape designs.

 

Station Four: Over the Top Success
At this station, Linda Holland will provide tips and techniques on how to create eye-catching hanging baskets sure to be show stoppers in the landscape.

Spend your time analyzing the breeder selections and their performance at this location or enjoy Leu Gardens' amazing 50-acre botanical oasis. The Leu House Museum located in the heart of the gardens and reveals turn-of-the century living for the families who once called this home.
