In an effort to celebrate trees and National Arbor Day, FNGLA makes trees and educational materials available to schools across the state.  The trees are used by the schools to host a tree-planting ceremony in conjunction with National Arbor Day – the last Friday each April. 

Participating schools are awarded vouchers towards the purchase of a tree and planting materials and are encouraged to host a tree planting ceremony for their class, grade level or school to celebrate the benefits of trees.  While vouchers are limited, FNGLA makes every effort to award as many schools vouchers as funding allows.  In 2008, an estimated 40,000 school children participated in tree planting ceremonies made possible by the program.

For more information on incorporating Florida Agricultural concepts into your classroom, visit Florida Ag in the Classroom which coordinates a statewide Florida Agriculture Literacy Day each year.  For 2009, Florida Ag Literacy Day will take place on March 24.  These Florida Farms is again the official book showcasing the many facets of Florida agriculture.  Books are available for classes and volunteers are encouraged to participate in spreading the Florida Ag message!
