If you’re looking for CEUs, there are more ways to get them than attending classes or reading professional articles in self-study. You can always volunteer your time at a number of FNGLA events which take place across the state of Florida throughout the year.

In addition to the professional benefit, volunteering also provides the opportunity for personal gratification.

"I volunteer because it is something that I can invest into my community and association with time, knowledge and love of helping others just for a smile in return -- best investment I can make," said Paul Rauch, a longtime FNGLA volunteer. "Nothing feels better than knowing that I can help others on their career."

 Here are a few opportunities:

 -          Volunteer for the FFA Career Development Events: On March 4, 2017 FNGLA will host 350 of Florida’s middle and high school students to compete in horticulture events.  Be a part of events aimed at mentoring the future of Florida’s horticulture industry.

 -          Serve as an exam judge: FNGLA administers certification exams around the state, and could use a helping hand. Take this opportunity to network with the industry’s elite, while earning your CEU credits.

 -          Serve on a committee or chapter board: Be the first to hear the latest industry happenings – and help shape your industry’s future – by serving on one of FNGLA’s many committees and boards of directors both on the state and chapter level.

Volunteers will be awarded one CEU per hour of volunteer time, up to four hours per day. For more information on upcoming volunteering dates and opportunities, contact Merry Mott, Director of Certifications and Career Development, at mmott@fngla.org or call (800) 375-3642.
