Now that you’ve completed the heavy lifting of earning your FNGLA certification, there are a multitude of ways to maximize it as a marketing tool. Here are a few quick and easy tips on how to use your new certification to promote yourself online:

  • Be sure to spread the word on social media. Linkedin allows you to list your certification on your profile. Houzz also allows you to do so on your Houzz company profile.
  • If you work for a company, invest in a visit to your marketing administrators' office. Ask them to share your accomplishment on their company Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin pages, and to tag your profile. “Any time someone here gets a new certification, we immediately put it on our Facebook page,” said Debra Morrow, vice president of marketing at ArtisTree Landscape Maintenance and Design, a Venice-based landscape firm. “We always try to include a photo and the background of the person who earned the distinction."
  • Send out a press release to your local news markets and ask them to place it in their business sections.
  • Include your FNGLA certifications in your professional email signature. Most email service providers offer the opportunity to pre-program your email signature to auto-populate with each new email. Take this chance to “set-it-and-forget-it” to show off your professional accolades.
  • Don’t forget to add the FNGLA Certified Professional logo to your website.
