President's Letter: Spring is Here!

April 7, 2021

Spring is here! I hope you and your business are doing well during this busy time for our industry. In speaking with FNGLA members all over our state, it sounds like everyone is very busy.

The planning committee met for FNGLA’s Annual Convention in St. Augustine to continue to plan our upcoming 2021 Convention. It will take place June 10-12 at the Embassy Suites on St. Augustine Beach - the same location which we were going to hold FNGLA’s 2020 Convention. And, what a great location it is! To get any closer to the Atlantic Ocean, we would need to hold the Convention on a boat!

The newly remodeled hotel creates the perfect setting to have a fun and eventful convention – one you will not want to miss! This being the first in-person event since the onset of the pandemic, it will be a great place to network and learn about things happening within our industry. You will see more convention information in coming weeks. And, if you are able and willing, please plan to attend!

To help address the ever-tightening labor shortage, the FNGLA team worked this past year on creating a Nursery and Landscape Apprenticeship program.  This is a great program to help candidates looking to enter our industry!

Having received several applicants for apprenticeship, FNGLA is looking for companies to pair with these apprentices. These individuals are ready, willing and anxious to start jobs and careers in in our industry! If you are interested in more information on how to bring apprentices into your operation, please contact Merry Mott at mmott@fngla.org.

As always, the FNGLA team is hard at work for our members. FNGLA is very thankful to have so many wonderfully dedicated members who recognize the importance of our Association.

Please renew your membership as soon as possible!

Sincerely,

Martin.Hackney.Sig
