Over 1,000 Central Florida Nurses Gifted Orchids, Peace Lilies

May 12, 2020

In celebration of International Nurses Day, over 1,000 nurses were presented orchids and peace lilies by the Bloom & Grow Garden Society of Winter Garden.

FNGLA member nurseries donated the plants and packaging.

The Garden Society responded in a big way to a request from Orlando Health-Health Central in Ocoee to recognize its nurses on May 12. Garden Society members and hospital officials wanted to give each nurse a beautiful plant in thanks for all they’re doing to keep us all safe and to help those suffering with the coronavirus. There are 550 nurses at the Orlando Health–Health Central hospital in Ocoee. That’s a lot of nurses!  And, that’s a lot of plants!

FNGLA members Costa Farms and Urban Jungle were also asked to help. They were unbelievably generous, and their plants were gorgeous! Costa Farms donated 510 orchids in colorful ceramic pots and Urban Jungle donated 600 Peace Lilies. FNGLA member Palm Tree Packaging then donated 600 foil pot covers for the Peace Lilies.

With more plants than expected, the nurses at two additional hospitals, Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital and AdventHealth Winter Garden,  were also each treated to a beautiful plant! The Garden Society is proud to have such generous friends in the nursery industry. Over 1,000 local nurses were made very happy as we let them know just how much they’re appreciated!
