FNGLA Certified Landscape Contractor

What is FCLC?

FNGLA's Certified Landscape Contractor (FCLC) program is the only standard for measuring the knowledge of practicing landscape contractors in Florida, and is the highest level of certification available to Florida's landscape installation professionals.

• Targets landscape firm owners, managers and operators.
• Must have completed both FNGLA’s Certified Horticulture Professional (FCHP) and Landscape Technician (FCLT) certifications.
• Must have a minimum three years’ experience in the horticulture/landscape industry with one of those years working in Florida.
• Although recommended, no prior training is required.
• Valid for a period of three years. Requires 30 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to maintain this certification.

Manual

The Landscape Estimating and Contract Administration textbook by Angley, Horsey and Roberts, provides an in-depth look at contracts, bidding, accounting and liens. It is a standard textbook available from a variety of sources, including FNGLA. 

Testing

The written FCLC exam is available to take online. Prior registration is required. To apply to take this exam, fill out an online registration form. 

About the FCLC Exam

Candidates must pass a comprehensive four-part online written exam to demonstrate knowledge on the business aspects of operating a landscape firm.

Each section must be passed with a minimum 70% in order to earn the FCLC certification after successful completion of the FCHP and FCLT certification exams. Sections include:

• Landscape Law
• Accounting
• Estimating
• Construction Documents

Exam Fees

• $110 for FNGLA members and $165 for nonmembers.
